DiskSpace AI

For AI agents · MCP

Ask your agent.

Connect DiskSpace AI to Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex or Cursor: your agent analyzes your Mac's disk and proposes a safe cleanup, always with your OK.

Connect with one click

  1. Install DiskSpace AI (or update to 1.0.5 or later).
  2. Open Settings → AI → Connect your AI agent and click Connect for Claude Code or Claude Desktop. No Terminal needed.
  3. Start a new session and ask “what's taking up space on my Mac?”.

Claude Code works inside the Claude desktop app too.

Claude plugin and extension

The DiskSpace AI plugin teaches Claude to clean step by step: analyze, explain, show you the plan and wait for your yes. In Claude Code:

/plugin install diskspace-ai --marketplace diskspaceai/claude-plugin

For Claude Desktop without the app, download diskspace-ai-<version>.mcpb from the latest release and double-click it. It's in the official MCP Registry as com.diskspaceai/diskspace-ai.

Other agents

Codex:

codex mcp add diskspace-ai -- "/Applications/DiskSpace AI.app/Contents/MacOS/diskspace" mcp

Claude Code from Terminal:

claude mcp add diskspace-ai -- "/Applications/DiskSpace AI.app/Contents/MacOS/diskspace" mcp

If you installed it with Homebrew, the command is just diskspace.

Cursor, Windsurf and any other that uses the MCP JSON config:

{"mcpServers": {"diskspace-ai": {"command": "/Applications/DiskSpace AI.app/Contents/MacOS/diskspace", "args": ["mcp"]}}}

What your agent can do

The same guarantees as the app

Privacy

DiskSpace AI runs entirely on your Mac: the MCP server only talks to the agent you have open, and Apple's AI that explains folders is local too.

But if your agent uses a cloud model (Claude, ChatGPT…), what DiskSpace AI returns to it —folder names, paths and sizes, never the contents of your files— is seen by that service, like anything else you ask it.
