The best disk space analyzers for Mac in 2026
In short
To see where your space goes, a free tool is enough: GrandPerspective or OmniDiskSweeper. DaisyDisk has the nicest map. CleanMyMac adds a whole maintenance suite. DiskSpace AI is the one that tells you what each folder is and whether you can delete it.
At a glance
| App | What it's best at | Price (Oct 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| macOS Storage settings | Big documents and quick recommendations, built in | Free |
| OmniDiskSweeper | A simple list of folders by size | Free |
| GrandPerspective | A treemap of every file | Free (paid version in the App Store) |
| DaisyDisk | A fast, beautiful interactive map | $9.99 once |
| CleanMyMac | All-in-one maintenance, with a space map | Subscription, or a higher one-time price |
| DiskSpace AI | What each folder is and whether it's safe to delete | Analysis free; €14.99 once to clean (free in the beta) |
Free: OmniDiskSweeper and GrandPerspective
Both show where the space is and nothing more. OmniDiskSweeper is a plain list sorted by size; GrandPerspective draws every file as a rectangle. Good enough if you know what you're looking at.
Paid map: DaisyDisk
The most pleasant way to explore your disk, and a one-time price. Like the free ones, it doesn't tell you what a folder is or whether it's safe to delete.
Suite: CleanMyMac
Cleanup, malware, performance and an uninstaller in one app. Worth it if you want all of that; more than you need if your problem is just space.
Explained: DiskSpace AI
Maps the disk by safety color, explains 60+ kinds of folders (Xcode, Docker, npm, uv, AI models, simulators…), pre-selects only what recreates itself and keeps your own files 7 days with Undo. Built for the question the others leave to you: can I delete this? It's our app, so weigh this paragraph accordingly.
DiskSpace AI does this for you
It analyzes your Mac in minutes, tells you what each folder is and only selects what recreates itself. Your files are kept 7 days in case you change your mind. Free during the beta.
