CleanMyMac alternative without a subscription
In short
CleanMyMac does a lot: cleanup, malware scans, optimization, an uninstaller and a space map, mostly as a yearly subscription. DiskSpace AI does one thing, disk space, explains why each item is safe or not, and costs €14.99 once (free during the beta).
What CleanMyMac does
It's a broad maintenance suite by MacPaw: system junk cleanup, malware removal, performance tools, an app uninstaller and Space Lens, a visual map of your disk. In October 2026 it's sold mainly as a subscription (around $40 a year for one Mac), with a one-time license at a higher price that covers the current major version.

Pick CleanMyMac if…
You want one app for everything (malware, performance, privacy, uninstalling) and a subscription is fine for you.
Pick DiskSpace AI if…
Your problem is space: an update that doesn't fit, a disk always full. You want to know why each thing is safe to delete, especially developer folders, and you'd rather pay once.
DiskSpace AI does this for you
It analyzes your Mac in minutes, tells you what each folder is and only selects what recreates itself. Your files are kept 7 days in case you change your mind. Free during the beta.
